How to Qualify as a Perfusionist

In order to practise, perfusionists must meet the following requirements:

A Suitable Degree
Complete a suitable Bachelor’s Degree in Science. It is relevant, but not mandatory, to have studied or majored in subjects related to perfusion science. These subjects will include physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, medical science, anatomy and like subjects.
Complete MUSC Course
Successfully complete the MUSC Masters. It is required that, as a trainee, you be employed in a recognised training hospital unit as well as meet the practical milestones through out your traineeship under the guidance of the clinical supervisor at the recognised training hospital.  The course will take two to three years to complete.

Successfully Complete ANZBP Examination

Successfully complete the ANZBP examination to receive the Certificate of Clinical Perfusion awarded by the Australian and New Zealand Board of Perfusion

Complete Continuing Professional Development Requirements
Subsequently, complete the mandated Continuing Professional Development requirements and continuously meet the Profession’s ethical and standards requirements
