Howard Carter - Western Australia
Board Member
- abcpmember@anzcp.org
Howard spent his early career in academia, completing a PhD in cardiovascular physiology from the University of Western Australia in 2014 and then spending the next 8 years in post-doctoral positions in Australia and at the University of Copenhagen. During this time, he ran research projects and delivered regular lectures for undergraduate and postgraduate units.
He was introduced to perfusion through his sister, an anaesthetic nurse, and he was fortunate to get a trainee position at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth in 2023, gaining certification in 2025. He immediately enjoyed the fact that perfusion encompasses both practical hands-on work and the need to monitor and understand integrative physiology.
Outside of normal clinical responsibilities, Howard looks forward to continuing his interests in research and training within perfusion and now as a board member of the ANZBP.
