Accreditation
The ANZCP recognises accredited training units as essential clinical learning environments for trainee perfusionists. Training unit accreditation provides assurance that a clinical department has the appropriate case exposure, supervision arrangements, staffing, governance, equipment, protocols, and educational support required to contribute to safe and effective perfusion training.
Accredited training units play a critical role in supporting the development of trainee perfusionists across the required clinical, technical, and professional competencies. Accreditation ensures that trainees undertake supervised clinical practice in environments that are aligned with ANZBP expectations, the ANZCP Standards and Guidelines, and the broader standards of perfusion practice in Australia and New Zealand.
Accredited training units are also expected to demonstrate supervision capacity that is aligned with contemporary expectations for clinical supervision. This includes appropriate supervisor certification and qualifications, structured oversight of trainee progression, clear escalation pathways, regular feedback, and support for safe, reflective, and progressive development of clinical competence.
Eligibility for enrolment in the Monash Master of Cardiovascular Perfusion program is limited to ANZBP-registered trainees who are employed at one of the following ANZBP-accredited training institutions.
The accreditation process supports consistency across training sites by clarifying expectations around supervision, workload, case exposure, documentation, clinical governance, and trainee progression. This helps protect patients, support supervisors, and ensure trainees are provided with structured opportunities to develop toward safe and competent independent practice.
