Wendy Saad Salib - Victoria
Board Secretary
- abcpsec@anzcp.org
Wendy was first introduced to perfusion as a Cardiac Physiologist at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead after having completed a degree in Medical Science and subsequent research degree at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Her enthusiasm and interest in working within the operating theatre was fuelled by the dynamic team that constitutes cardiac surgery where each individual needs to work harmoniously together, yet independently, to ensure successful patient outcomes are achieved.
She has since worked across multiple hospitals after completing her Master of Science (Perfusion) and ANZBP perfusion traineeship at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. She is currently a senior perfusionist at Alfred Health, which is a hospital that specialises in heart and lung transplantation, ventricular assist devices for heart failure, minimally invasive and pulmonary thromboembolic procedures.
Wendy continues to push the boundary for quality improvements and safety management within all aspects of patient management care by focussing on perfusion quality standards, risk assessment, education, and training. She has a particular interest in improving staff wellbeing through workforce initiatives that provide support structures to help staff “Speak Up” and “Actively Listen” when a concerning event arises. She is currently completing an MBA to help further enhance these initiatives.
Wendy has volunteered in multiple roles throughout her career, including VECMOS. Innovation, curiosity, and open-mindedness are her foundation blocks when working on any task at hand. Outside of perfusion, Wendy is an avid cycler who enjoys travelling and going on family adventures
