ANZBP International Training Site Approval

The Australian and New Zealand Board of Perfusion (ANZBP) has a longstanding history of supporting perfusion education and professional development across the Asia-Pacific region, including the recognition of international training institutions in countries and regions such as Singapore and Hong Kong.

To support the continued development of perfusion education internationally, the ANZBP provides a formal process through which overseas hospitals and perfusion services may apply for International Site Approval. This process allows the ANZBP to assess international clinical environments, including their perfusion services, clinical activity, supervision arrangements, equipment and safety systems, and institutional support for education and training.

International Site Approval may support participation in ANZBP-recognised academic programs, including the Master of Cardiovascular Perfusion at Monash University, where applicable.

Before applying, please review the International Site Approval Policy and Frequently Asked Questions below.

Applying for International Site Approval

Overseas hospitals and perfusion services seeking ANZBP International Site Approval are invited to submit an application for assessment.

Applications are assessed against the requirements outlined in the ANZBP International Site Approval Policy. Institutions may be required to provide information regarding their clinical services, staffing, supervision arrangements, equipment and institutional support.

NOTE: International Site Approval is granted for a specified purpose and does not automatically constitute ANZBP training accreditation or confer eligibility for ANZBP certification in Australia or New Zealand.

International Site Approval FAQ

International hospitals, cardiac surgical centres and perfusion service providers located outside Australia and New Zealand may apply for approval.

Applications should be submitted by an authorised representative of the institution, with the support of the relevant perfusion and hospital leadership.

The ANZBP considers several factors, including:

  • Clinical activity, case volume and case mix.
  • Perfusion department staffing and clinical supervision arrangements.
  • Qualifications and experience of clinical supervisors.
  • Perfusion equipment, protocols and patient safety systems.
  • Institutional support for education and training.
  • Applicable local professional and regulatory requirements.

Full requirements are outlined in the International Site Approval Policy.

No. International Site Approval does not constitute ANZBP-accredited clinical training or establish eligibility for certification as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP ANZ).

Internationally trained perfusionists seeking recognition or certification in Australia and New Zealand must satisfy the requirements of the relevant ANZBP pathway, including the Overseas Trained Perfusionist (OTP) pathway where applicable.

International Site Approval may support an applicant’s admission to an ANZBP-recognised academic program, including the Master of Cardiovascular Perfusion at Monash University.

However, site approval does not guarantee university admission.

Individual applicants must meet the relevant university entry requirements and any additional ANZBP requirements.

Application and renewal fees may apply. Institutions will be advised of the applicable fees and payment arrangements during the application process.
