Annette Mazzone

Annette Mazzone is the Director of Perfusion in the cardiothoracic surgical unit at Flinders Medical Centre. After gaining her CCP in 2004 Annette has developed her skills in adult perfusion and ECMO. In 2014 Annette commenced a PhD part-time, researching the role of microRNA levels in hypoxia and cardiopulmonary bypass in the development of acute kidney injury. In March 2020 Annette was awarded her PhD. Annette has been involved in the implementation of state wide services including neonate and paediatric ECMO at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide and a local organ procurement program through Donate Life.

Annette has a passion for perfusion education and is the supervisor of trainees at Flinders Medical Centre. As a member of the executive committee, Annette is dedicated to working collaboratively with colleagues to elevate the standards of perfusion practice in Australia and New Zealand.
