ANZCP Trainee Portal
This portal is for individuals who are currently employed as clinical perfusion trainees in Australia or New Zealand and are progressing through the ANZBP training pathway. It provides access to trainee registration, trainee membership, clinical submission upload points, and other information relevant to trainees during their training period.
The ANZBP training pathway is a work-integrated learning model, requiring both employment in a trainee perfusionist position and enrolment in a Board-recognised Master of Cardiovascular Perfusion program, to be completed concurrently. Trainees must secure a clinical perfusion traineeship at an ANZBP-accredited training institution, with a minimum commitment of 3 days per week, for the duration of the program.

Yes. Registration is for trainees who are already employed in a recognised trainee perfusion position. The ANZCP training pathway requires both:
- employment in a trainee perfusionist position at an ANZBP Accredited Training Site, with appropriate ANZBP-approved supervision; and
- enrolment in a Board-recognised Master of Cardiovascular Perfusion program,
to be completed concurrently
Yes. Trainees are expected to remain employed in an ANZBP-accredited trainee position for the duration of the program. ANZCP training pathway information states that the traineeship is required for the duration of the program, and the ANZBP training accreditation requirements state that accredited hospitals/service providers commit to employ and support the trainee for the duration of training.
It is the responsibility of each trainee to secure and maintain employment in an approved clinical perfusion trainee position for the entirety of their training. Continued enrolment in the academic program is contingent upon maintaining this employment. If a trainee position ceases at any stage during the program, the trainee will be required to take intermission as per Monash University until a new approved trainee position is secured, or otherwise withdraw from the program.
Yes. The training pathway page states the traineeship must be a minimum of 3 days per week at an ANZBP-accredited training institution. The Clinical Trainee Guidelines also state that students are expected to complete at least 3 days in the operating room per week, with at least 1 day per week allocated to non-clinical/study time
Any significant change to your trainee position should be communicated promptly to the Course Coordinator/ANZBP. The Clinical Trainee Guidelines provide for leave of absence in some circumstances at ANZBP discretion, and state that if a student wishes to withdraw, the Course Coordinator or Chair of the ANZBP must be notified in writing by the student and/or supervisor.

No. The ANZCP training pathway page states that the didactic component alone will not fulfil the clinical requirement necessary to be eligible to sit Board Certification exams. The trainee position and clinical milestones are essential components of the pathway
